a short video featuring our friend, Robert Verdi speaks a thousand words towards setting you in the right direction to turning your bed into a nest! Note the use of Euro Square Pillows on the back row of this queen size bed! Elegant, gorgeous, and inviting!
Lets get you started towards a more comfortable sleep:
On average, pillows should be replaced every 2-3 years. But some pillows wear faster than others. To find out whether you need a new pillow, try these simple tests.
For feather or down pillows, fold your pillow in half (or for larger pillows, into thirds) to squeeze out the air. If the pillow stays folded when you release it, now is the time to buy a new pillow. Down pillows should spring back into their original shape and fluffiness.
For synthetic pillows, put your pillow on a flat surface and fold it in half (or thirds, for larger pillows) to squeeze out the air. Put a hardback book, something lighter than War and Peace but heavier than Pat the Bunny, on it. The pillow should toss the book and bounce back into its original shape. If it doesn’t, you need to get a new pillow.
What other clues indicate that I need a new pillow?
All pillows are not created equal.
Almost 1/3 of our life is spent sleeping. There are two basic pillow choices: natural or synthetic fill. Natural consists of feather, down, or a combination of both. Synthetic fill is most commonly polyester.
The best natural fill pillows consist of down and will conform comfortably to your head and neck. These are long lasting and durable, and of course more expensive. But you will get your money’s worth in the long run.

| Many people assume that you can’t wash pillows without destroying the unique shape and fullness that prompted you to buy a specific pillow in the first place. Washing your pillow will keep it from accumulating microscopic dust mites, mold, mildew and other bacteria – as well as perspiration and drool – which permeate pillowcases and settle into pillows beneath.
Almost all pillows are machine washable, even down. Check the tag for directions before you rip it off your pillow. The most important factor is that they are dried completely. Any dampness left in the pillow will cause mold to form. If your pillow is fluffy without clumps, it’s dry. You can follow our down comforter cleaning method to care for your down pillow. Even though you will use a pillowcase, every pillow should have a pillow protector. This will act as a barrier against impurities and help prolong the life of your pillow. Look for a high thread count in the protector as well. |
| How do I know if I need a new pillow?
If you have to ask, you probably do. If you are not getting a good night’s sleep, this may be the culprit. A good pillow will support your head in natural alignment with your spine, thus providing you with a more comfortable, better night’s sleep. How long does a pillow last? With normal use and care a natural fill pillow can last up to 10 years. A synthetic pillow, on the other hand, doesn’t usually exceed a couple of years. Depending on your habits, someone who tosses and turns all night will be harder on his pillow than a gentle sleeper. How can I make it last longer? The key is to use a pillow protector. It keeps impurities, such as oil, dirt and moisture, from seeping in and allowing it to get flat, lumpy and dirty. I’m an allergy sufferer, so is it better to use a synthetic pillow? You are most likely not allergic to the down but to the dust and dirt in the pillow. Inferior down products will have dust and a scent to them that commonly cause allergic reactions. Our down has no scent, and no dust. DownTown Company uses an very effective process of removing dirt and dust from the down. Hypoallergenic! We offer a 30 day return policy. |
